Manage Apple AirDrop
Apple iOS devices have a handy feature called AirDrop, this enables you to share photos and videos easily with others. However, this feature does have a downside - if set to discover by ‘Everyone’, it allows anyone in close proximity to send you photos and videos. We recommend that you adjust this setting to ‘Contacts Only’, this ensures that only people in your contacts list can send you media. If you decide that this is not a feature you wish to use you can disable it outright.
It is important to note that regardless of your settings, any attempt to send you media will prompt your device into asking if you wish to accept the transfer. Although it can be easy to inadvertently press the accept button, you should always remain vigilant as to what exactly you are agreeing to.
NOTE: If you have an android or non-apple device you do not need to worry about this setting, as it can only be used iOS to iOS device.
Should you want to adjust AirDrop settings on your iOS device, please follow these steps:
Step 1 - Open the ‘Settings’ App
Step 2 - Select ‘General’
Step 3 - Select ‘AirDrop’
Step 4 - Now select the desired option
- Receiving Off
- This completely disables AirDrop
- Contacts Only
- This means you can only be seen by those in your contacts
- Everyone
- This means that you will be seen by everyone in close proximity
